Boiler Upgrade Scheme Grant Increase for Off-Gas Homes – What You Need to Know.

Great news for homeowners considering low-carbon heating solutions.
From 21 July 2026, changes to the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) will provide increased support for eligible homes in England and Wales that are currently heated by oil or LPG and are not connected to the gas grid.
Under the updated scheme, eligible off-gas grid properties may be able to access an increased grant of £9,000 towards the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps.
This uplifted grant will be available until 31 March 2027 and there is still no VAT to pay.
The enhanced funding aims to support households that are most affected by fluctuating fossil fuel prices, particularly those in rural and off-grid areas, helping them transition to more sustainable, low-carbon heating systems.
For homes with other heating systems, such as mains gas, direct electric, or coal, grants of up to £7,500 may still be available depending on the system installed.
